As we enter the second half of 2019, the Worship Liaisons (Deacon Albert & Joy Belleza) would like to share the successes of the Worship Team, as well as the next steps. Our first objective: to learn together the Life-Giving Truth of the Holy Eucharist, and thus, be able to actively participate in the Holy Mass.
The first action item was to revitalize the liturgy committee to ensure the beauty and authenticity of our Roman Catholic liturgy at St. Catherine of Siena Parish. The Core Worship team was established, and subcommittees were organized for each liturgical ministry. The Core team developed a handbook of guidelines, known as the Liturgy Handbook, for the Core Team and Liturgical Ministers to have a resource to utilize for consistency in Worship. The Liturgy Handbook is now available on our website. As we move forward this year the team is working on the development of a Liturgical Calendar for the coming year. This process includes a focus on developing the Devotional life of the Parish based on the Liturgical Year.
This action to acknowledge and promote the values of different cultural and traditional devotions, is part of the second objective: to foster a deeper appreciation and active engagement in a diverse devotional and sacramental life of our community. Additionally, we are working to embrace and celebrate the diversity in both cultural and communal celebrations, our third objective, by facilitating an opportunity to embrace the universal church, in planning Christ centered parish events that celebrate our diverse community.
